Collecting Autographes

Many sports card collectors enjoy collecting autographs in addition to their cards. Collecting autographs can add a whole new dimension to your collection. Just as with the cards you collect you should collect the autographs that make you happy. There are two basic ways to collect autographs, buying them from a dealer like The Baseball Card Shop Online Store or getting the players to sign for you. When buying from a dealer make sure that either the autograph has a certificate of authenticity or it is on a sports card that came out of a pack already autographed. It is the most fun to get the autographs from the players yourself at the games or card shows. Many people have also had good luck with mailing to their favorite players and asking for an autograph. If you decide to mail to a player asking for an autograph don't be to surprised if you never hear back from them of if it take a very long time to hear from them, the players get a lot of fan mail and it may be imposable for them to answer all requests or even return an item you sent to them asking for the autograph. Never send any in the mail to a player that would upset you if you did not get it back. Inexpensive sports cards or photo's are best for mailing requests for autographs to the players. One other great way to get autographed item is through charity auctions. Many of the players donate great autographed items to charities all the time and a lot of the time they sell for great prices and can make you fell good that the money is helping someone.
